Ironman World Champion 2005 - PowerBar-user since 2005

Triathlete Faris Al-Sultan will count on PowerBar nutrition for the foreseeable future. The partnership between the Ironman World Champion and the sports nutrition specialists, PowerBar, was announced today in Munich. The sponsorship begins immediately and the deal runs for the next three years.

Al-Sultan says; “Nutrition plays a major role in my energy and performance level and in the future I will trust PowerBar. At the Hawaii Ironman, I experienced some dips during the bike stage that almost destroyed my chances for victory, looking ahead, I want to ensure this doesn’t happen again…”

Al-Sultan joins a long line of sport legends such as Lance Armstrong and Haile Gebrselassie who have benefited from PowerBar’s expertise. For many years, these athletes have trusted the energy bars and gels by PowerBar.

Faris Al-Sultan, will celebrate his 28th birthday shortly, but what he is really looking forward to is always the next race. “I am hungry for more, PowerBar works and it will take me to a higher level”.

Faris Al-Sultan, Curriculum Vitae

Faris Al-Sultan (engl: Knight and Ruler) was born on January 21st, 1978 in Munich, Germany.

At the age of sixteen he ran his first marathon, 1997 he competed in his first Triathlon, 1999 he was Bavarian Cross Champion. In 2000, he managed to be German Long Distance Triathlon Champion for the first time (Kulmbach). In April 2005 he won his first Ironman contest in Arizona, USA, in October he was the winner of the legendary Ironman in Hawaii.

The top athlete has a weight of 71 kilos and is 181 cm tall. His best time in the long distance Triathlon (in Roth, Germany) is 7:58:57 h and in the 1500m Freestyle at 16:50 min. His 10K running record (street) is 32:15 min.

Faris Al-Sultan is studying History and Culture of the Near East at the Ludwig- Maximilians-Universität in Munich. In December 2005, he received the Media award "Bambi" for his outstanding performance.

And what are his goals after his sport career? Faris: I want get my PhD, write at least one book and after this, I want to have children.
